2021 밝은사회클럽 국제본부 이사회 1월 21일 GCS본부 개최

[무도매거진-우용희기자] '‘2021 밝은사회클럽 국제본부 이사회’가 2021년 1월 21일 대한민국 서울 밝은사회(GCS)클럽 국제본부 대회의실에서 개최되었다.

코로나 상황으로 온, 오프라인 형식으로 동시에 진행된 이사회에서 참석 이사들은 2020년도 수입-지출 결산보고 및 사업보고 그리고 2021년 예산안과 사업을 만장일치로 승인했다.

이사회는 오는 2월 초 3년 임기가 만료되는 조정원, 승명호, 유인희 그리고 김용빈 4명 이사에 대해 중임안을 만장일치로 승인했다.

이사회는 ‘2021년 밝은사회클럽 국제본부(GCS International) 국제대회’를 오는 10월 13일 중국 우시에서 개최하려는 사업계획을 승인했다.

GCS클럽 국제본부가 2021년도 추진하는 주요 행사로는, 9월 10일 서울 서소문 성지역사박물관에서 ‘유엔 세계평화의 날 제정 40주년’ 기념 ‘세계평화 음악회 및 문화 공연(가칭),’ 6월 5일 경기도 파주 평화누리공원에서 국민일보와 공동으로 ‘2021 DMZ평화대축제’ 그리고 5월 26일 남양주시 삼봉리 밝은사회기념관에서 조영식 GCS운동 창시자 탄신 100주년 기념 소규모 평화음악회 등이다.

이사회에서 강석재 GCS클럽 국제본부 사무총장은 2021년도 GCS 회원국을 대상으로 태권도와 한국어 온라인 교육 프로젝트를 아시아발전재단(ADF) 그리고 세종학당과 공동 사업으로 추진 중이라고 보고했다.

강 사무총장은 또한 현 58개 국가인 GCS 국가본부 숫자를 오는 10월 GCS국제대회까지 100개국으로 확충하는 계획을 보고했다. 관련해서 화상으로 참가한 셀마 리(Selma Li) GCS미국포틀랜드지역본부 총재는 2021년 팬암지역 GCS회원국을 최소 15개국 추가하겠다고 약속했다.

GCS 본부에서 열린 이사회에 직접 참석한 이사로는 승명호, 김도균 이사, 그리고 zoom방식의 화상으로 참석한 이사로는 장성구, 이광균, 그리고 셀마 리 이사 등이다.

조정원 GCS클럽 국제본부 총재는 이사회 인사말에서 ‘GCS클럽 국제본부로서는 2021년은 유엔 세계평화의 날 제정 40주년이 되는 해라서 아주 중요한 의미가 있다’고 말하며 ‘우리는 관련해서 다양한 축하 행사를 계획하고 있다’고 말했다.

조 총재는 ’현재 추진 중인 태권도-한국어 온라인 교육 프로그램은 GCS운동에 큰 동력을 줄 것’이라고 말하며 ‘오는 10월 GCS국제대회까지 GCS회원국 수를 100개로 확대하기를 바란다’고 덧 붙였다.

The 2021 GCS International Board of Directors Meeting was held at the conference room of GCS International in Seoul, Korea on January 21, 2021.

At the board meeting, held in both on- and off-line formats, the board members unanimously approved the 2020 income expenditure report and the 2021 budget and business plans.

The board also approved the reappointment of four board members of GCS International for three more years. They are Dr. Chungwon Choue, president of GCS International; Mr. Seung Myung-ho, Mr. Yoo In-hee and Mr. Kim Yong-bin.

The board gave the green light to the 2021 GCS International Convention on October 13, 2021 at Wuxi, China.

Among other major GCS International events for 2021 are an international world peace concert and cultural events in commemoration of the 40thanniversaryoftheestablishmentoftheU.N.InternationalDayofPeaceonSeptember10inSeoul,Korea;the2021DMZPeaceFestivalinPaju,KoreaonJune5togetherwiththeKookminDaily;andapeaceconcertatSambong-ni,NamyangjuinKoreaonMay26tocommemoratethe100thyearofthebirthoftheGCSfounder,Dr.YoungSeekChoue.

At the board meeting, GCS International Secretary General Dr. Seok-jae Kang reported that GCS International will launch a taekwondo and Korean language online training program for GCS member chapters starting this year, together with the Asia Development Foundation and the King Sejong Institute Foundation.

Secretary General Kang also reported that GCS International targets to increase the number of its national chapters from 58 up to 100 by this October. Dr. Selma Li, president of the GCS International Portland, USA Chapter, promised to add 15 more Pan American countries this year.

Among board members, who attended the board meeting, were Mr. Seung Myung-ho and Prof. Kim Do-kyun of Kyung Hee University, while board members Prof. Chang Sung-goo, Mr. Lee Kwang-kyun, and Dr. Selma Li joined the board meeting online.

“For GCS International, this year is very important as 2021 marks the 40thanniversaryoftheestablishmentoftheU.N.InternationalDayofPeace.Weplantoorganizeseveralcommemorativeevents,”saidGCSInternationalPresidentDr.ChungwonChoueinhisopeningremarks.

Dr. Choue said, “the projected taekwondo-Korean language online program for GCS national chapters would greatly help improve the GCS Movement. I wish the number of GCS national chapters to increase more than 100 by October this year, when the 2021 GCS International Convention takes place in Wuxi, China.”
